We can use detergent mixed with water to clean such floors. Now, if on applying a few drops of liquid on your wooden floor, it starts absorbing it then you have an unsound finish. You can not wash such floors with the mixture of detergent in water, for this you need to use spirits which don't have much odor. Make sure you reapply the wax at the testing area after completion of the test of finishing.
We should not use basic soaps which contain oil to clean the wooden floor area. Instead it is always advisable to use neutral detergents and soaps on the wooden area. Woods are made up of complex polymers and they are prone to reactions with acids and bases. Thus this prevention is needed.
You should learn to protect your wooden floor from sun rays. Wood has natural polymers and their reactions to get modified are triggered when they come in contact with sunrays. So generally wooden floor area should be covered from allover with curtains so minimal of the sunrays enter the area.
We also need to keep a check on the wax applied to the wooden surface as well. This is to prevent direct contact of wood from spillovers, air etc.
